Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects and recovered 8 sacks of bhang at Soko Mjinga along the Nairobi- Nakuru highway.

This was after police officers intercepted a black Nissan X-Trail, registration number KDN 051S, along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway at Soko Mjinga. 

The vehicle, which had two occupants, was found to be transporting several sacks of a dry, green substance suspected to be narcotic drugs.

“The vehicle was escorted to Magumu Police Station where, upon a thorough search, officers recovered multiple sacks of the suspected narcotics. The two suspects are in custody awaiting further police action,” DCI reported.

At the same time, the National Police Service (NPS) expressed its commitment to combating the trade in narcotic drugs and called on the public to continue supporting its operations by providing information.

This comes a day after police officers in Awendo, Migori County, intercepted and arrested a suspect who was transporting a sack of cannabis sativa (bhang) along the Migori–Kisii road on a motorcycle.

In a statement on September 10, 2025, police reported that the suspect is being held in custody, pending processing and arraignment.

NPS emphasized that it will remain steadfast in its fight against narcotics, which threaten the safety and well-being of our communities.

In addition, NPS encouraged members of the public to report drug trafficking and related crimes to the nearest police station or via the toll-free numbers 999, 911

Elsewhere in Eldoret, officers from Kapsoya Police Station, while on patrol in the Munyaka area, arrested one suspect in possession of 168 rolls of bhang.
