Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has warned Mediheal Group of Hospitals Founder Dr. Swarup Mishra of a possible prosecution, revocation of his citizenship, deportation and closure of the facilities following a government task-force’s report that linked him to organ trafficking.
Speaking at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) on Friday, 1 August, CS Duale called out Mishra for his hospital’s alleged involvement in the scandal.
He further warned him against warning that his Kenyan citizenship can be revoked and he be deported to deported to India.
“You cannot come to our country 20 years ago with a bag, you make money, you sell our organs, you become a Member of Parliament, you develop a culture of impunity, you hire lawyers halafu unakuja kututisha!” Duale said.
Duale said, legally the government can revoke his citizenship because he used immigration laws to gain his, and he is not a Kenyan citizen by birth.
“If it means us revoking that citizenship because your citizenship is not by birth, we will revoke the citizenship, we will close your hospital and deport you,” he stated.
The CS slammed the former Member of Parliament for Kesses for taking advantage of the young people because of their social status.
”People whose kidneys were removed, some of them have disappeared. We have evidence! he said adding ” some of them were paid. Our children because of their social status were abused given little money,” The CS said.
As if that is not enough Duale claimed Mishra used his hospitals to give medical attention to foreigners using NHIF against the law.
According to Duale ”Foreigners, used NHIF! They used NHIF money to treat foreigners, halafu wewe unaenda ku-hire lawyers kutisha sisi, ”
The CS said he is ready to face parliament on the report that implicated Mediheal in the alleged organ trafficking scandal.
Duale’s remarks come pending Parliament’s adoption of a report by the Independent Investigative Committee on Tissue and Organ Transplant Services that recommended an immediate criminal investigation and criminal charges against Mishra for alleged involvement in organ trafficking linked to a kidney transplant scandal at the facility.
In the presented to CS Duale on July 22, the 13-member team exposed massive irregularities pointing to an international organ harvesting syndicate.
