A golden opportunity is knocking for thousands of Kenyan youth as employers from Dubai and UAE land in the Coastal region this week to recruit over 2,000 candidates for well-paying jobs abroad.
The recruitment drive, spearheaded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, will begin on Monday, May 26, in Malindi and will run across Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale counties. Job seekers are eyeing positions as motorcycle delivery riders, construction helpers and gardeners.
“This is not just about jobs—it’s about dignity, economic empowerment and offering hope,” said Labour Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua. “We’re creating pathways for young people to earn decently, build their futures and support their families.”
High pay, no certificate needed
What makes this offer even more attractive? No academic certificates are required—only a valid or in-process passport, basic presentation and a readiness to work. Successful candidates will enjoy tax-free salaries ranging from Ksh 31,000 to Ksh 120,000, alongside medical insurance, accommodation and in some cases, food.
According to the job advertisement, motorcycle riders will earn between Ksh 80,000 and Ksh 120,000, construction helpers around Ksh 35,000 and gardeners between Ksh 31,000 and Ksh 45,000 per month.
“The opportunity is real. We encourage young people to present themselves smartly and professionally. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have,” emphasized one official on site in Kilifi.
FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED
Candidates must arrive early—interviews run from 8 AM to 5 PM and follow a strict first come, first served policy.
“Mapema ndio best,” read a banner at the Malindi recruitment venue. “Those who come late will not be considered,” confirmed an on-ground NTSA representative.
Gov’t support on site
To streamline the process, NTSA will be on-site to issue or approve motorcycle licenses, while the DCI will be assisting with Good Conduct certificates. Youth Fund officers will also be offering financial support for travel and documentation costs.
“Our goal is to eliminate every obstacle standing between a qualified youth and a decent job,” said a Ministry of Labour representative. “This is a multi-agency effort to ensure a fair, transparent and empowering process.”
