Nairobi, 7th July 2025- East African Breweries Plc (EABL) has commenced its “World Tequila Month” celebrations in Kenya. This month-long initiative replaces the traditional single-day observance, of World Tequila Day, which falls annually on July 24th. The extended celebration reflects EABL’s commitment to expanding its tequila presence in Kenya and deepening consumer appreciation.
“World Tequila Month reflects our ambition to lead Kenya’s premium tequila market. This month, we are inviting our consumers to experience the world of Don Julio and Casamigos tequila. These brands are setting the benchmark for quality and versatility, allowing us to move beyond the shot glass and elevate tequila for every occasion. Our goal is to redefine tequila’s identity and advance consumer appreciation within the category.” Said Victoria Mbugua, Brand Manager for Don Julio and Casamigos at EABL.

In Kenya, the tequila category is growing, driven by consumer interest in high-quality spirits and a demand for better drinking experiences. This trend positions tequila as a rising star within the premium alcohol market, with EABL leading the charge to drive its growth and cultural relevance. To achieve this, throughout July, there will be various consumer engagement activities across the country featuring Don Julio and Casamigos. These experiences will showcase various consumption methods, from expertly crafted cocktails to the art of enjoying tequila neat. Consumers will also learn diverse ways to appreciate the range, such as a Don Julio Blanco served with apple juice, a Don Julio reposado or a Casamigos Reposado served with pineapple juice. Consumers will also discover how to enjoy Casamigos as a neat pour in contrast to Don Julio which is accompanied with pineapple chunks and a dash of Tabasco.
Through this sustained campaign, EABL seeks to cement its position as Kenya’s definitive voice in premium spirits, spearheading a cultural shift in how consumers experience tequila. This will build a deeper appreciation for tequila’s craftsmanship and versatility, weaving it into the fabric of Kenyan social celebrations.
