Embu 7s promises to ignite the National Rugby Sevens Circuit title race

The 2025 National Sevens Circuit is set for a thrilling showdown as teams head to Embu for the fourth leg of the competition this weekend.

With only two rounds remaining, the Embu Sevens will be pivotal in shaping the final standings, as the nation’s top clubs vie for the coveted title.

The official pools, unveiled at the RFUEA Grounds, promise an action-packed weekend. Leading the charge in Pool A are the dominant KCB RFC, who are looking to secure their third title of the season.

The bankers, fresh from their eighth Christie Sevens crown, currently sit atop the circuit with 63 points and will face Daystar Falcons, Mwamba RFC, and an invitational side.

Meanwhile, defending Embu champions Strathmore Leos headline Pool B.

The Leos, who won the Prinsloo Sevens and are just five points behind KCB on 58, will have to navigate a tricky pool that includes a Kabras Sugar side eager to redeem themselves after a disappointing ninth-place finish at the Christie Sevens. Also in the mix are newly promoted Kabete Stallions.

In Pool C, Menengai Oilers, who have shown consistent form this season and are third on the log with 47 points, will be hoping to close the gap on the leaders.

They will face off against Nondescripts, Nakuru RFC, and an invited team. The competition in Pool D is also expected to be intense, with last year’s Embu Sevens runners-up, Catholic Monks, taking on Kenya Harlequins, MMUST RFC, and an invitational side.

The race for the National Sevens Circuit title is poised for a dramatic finish, and with only the Kabeberi and Dala Sevens to follow, every point in Embu will be critical.
