Hon James Wanjohi, an aspirant for the Kabete parliamentary seat, yesterday demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment after donating 27 darts sets to 23 youth teams across the constituency, in an initiative aimed at keeping young people engaged, connected, and positively occupied.
The donation exercise brought together youth leaders and team representatives, highlighting the growing importance of darts as a popular and accessible game among the youth in Kabete.
Speaking during the event, Wanjohi noted that darts has become more than just a recreational activity, describing it as a powerful tool for engagement, discipline, and mental focus.

He emphasized that many young people today face challenges such as idleness, unemployment, and exposure to negative influences, adding that community based sports and games offer a simple but effective way of keeping the youth in touch with positive values.
According to Wanjohi, supporting such initiatives helps nurture talent, encourages teamwork, and builds social bonds among young people from different neighborhoods.
“Darts may look simple, but it plays a big role in keeping our youth engaged, sharpening their concentration, and giving them a sense of belonging. When young people are engaged, the entire community benefits,” he said.

Hon Wanjohi further noted that investing in youth activities is an investment in the future of Kabete, stressing the need to continuously support platforms that allow young people to interact, compete, and grow their skills in a healthy environment. He reiterated his belief that leadership should focus on practical solutions that directly impact people at the grassroots level.
The beneficiary teams expressed appreciation for the support, saying the donated darts sets will go a long way in strengthening their activities, organizing friendly competitions, and mentoring younger players.
Youth leaders noted that access to basic equipment has often been a major challenge, limiting their ability to grow, attract more participants, and sustain regular engagements.
As Kabete prepares for the upcoming political season, Wanjohi’s focus on youth centered initiatives continues to stand out, with sports and recreation emerging as key pillars in efforts to empower the next generation and promote positive social engagement within the constituency.
