‘Empowerment programs will secure Ruto’s re-election in 2027’ -says Kindiki

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has passionately emphasized the critical importance of empowerment programs and Saccos at the grassroots level in uplifting livelihoods across Kenya.

Speaking on August 2, 2025 at the Molo Constituency Economic Empowerment event in Molo town, Nakuru County, Kindiki continued to defend the government by stating that backing empowerment projects is more than just a political move.

“The economy is built from the bottom going up. That is why we are empowering those at the bottom of the economic pyramid,” he stated.

Kindiki also announced that as part of efforts to improve national infrastructure, the government is set to begin the dualling of the Rironi-Mau Summit road and reassured residents that preparations are underway with the ground-breaking scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.

“We will break ground in a few weeks and ensure construction of the road that will see the economy of Nakuru and other counties along the highway to go up significantly,” he stated.

Kindiki also noted that as development efforts continue, the government will remain committed to uplifting the lives of ordinary citizens in every way possible.

“As we build more roads, increase electricity connection, improve healthcare and turnaround farm productivity, we will continue to support ordinary wananchi with whatever we can to better their lives,” he remarked.

The Deputy President also noted that the government will strengthen the provision of subsidized fertilizer, focusing on making it even more affordable and accessible.

He highlighted how it is currently priced at Sh2,500 per bag and is down from Sh7,000 three years ago with the aim to further ease the burden on farmers.

Kindiki also pointed out the progress in the construction of modern markets, with Molo Constituency benefiting from two new facilities in Molo and Elburgon towns and the constituency also received an allocation of Sh257 million to support the expansion of last-mile electricity connections.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining funding for free primary and secondary education, as pledged by President Ruto, noting that the Higher Education Loans Board budget has been raised from Sh36 billion to Sh41 billion, providing more support for students alongside reduced tuition fees.

“The previous governments employed less than 5000 teachers every year before President Ruto took over in 2022. Since then, we have employed 76, 000 teachers and another 24, 000 will be employed by this December,” he said.

Kindiki additionally urged the opposition to prepare for a tough political contest when the time comes due to the government’s development efforts across the country.

“We will come with our scorecard and we will challenge them to tell us,” he declared.
