End of an era: Mo Salah officially says goodbye to Liverpool

The day many Liverpool fans feared has finally arrived.

Mohamed Salah shared a quiet but powerful video online, seated in front of a wall filled with trophies that tell the story of his career. His message was simple, but it carried weight.

“Hello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come.”

With those words, Salah confirmed the end of an era.

Liverpool later announced that the Egyptian forward will leave the club at the end of the season once his contract expires, bringing his nine-year stay at Anfield to a close. For many fans, it is a moment that felt inevitable, yet still deeply emotional.

Salah leaves behind a legacy that is difficult to match. In 435 appearances, he scored 255 goals, making him one of the club’s greatest ever players and placing him third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. His time at the club delivered multiple trophies, including two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, and the Community Shield. He also won the Premier League Golden Boot four times.

But beyond the numbers, Salah became a symbol of Liverpool’s modern success. His consistency, discipline, and ability to deliver in key moments turned him into a fan favourite and a defining figure of the club’s recent history.

In his farewell message, Salah said, “Liverpool is not just a football club. It is a passion, a history, it’s a spirit that I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club… And to the fans, I don’t have enough words. The support you showed me through the best time of my career, and you stood by me during the toughest time, is something I will never forget.”

As the season approaches its end, attention will now shift to his final appearance at Anfield. It will be an emotional farewell for a player who gave everything and made an indelible mark on one of football’s biggest stages.
