Eric Omondi opens up on body toll after 486Km charity walk to Mombasa

Comedian and activist Eric Omondi has shared the physical toll of his recent long-distance charity walk from Nairobi to Mombasa, a journey aimed at raising funds for the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre.

The initiative seeks to establish a facility complete with a warehouse, two ambulances, a clinic and a free secondary school.

Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram after the gruelling trek, Omondi admitted the journey pushed his body to the limit.

“First of all, nimekonda wasee. Nikianza hii walk nilikuwa nimeungaunga, nilikuwa niko gym, but I lost weight in four and a half days,” he said, noting the drastic transformation he experienced in less than a week.

The comedian explained that while he did not cover all 486 kilometres entirely on foot, the scorching sun and tough terrain left a visible mark.

In his usual humorous tone, he joked about the uneven tan he developed along the way. “Sasa unaona venye nakaa saa hizi, yaani hapa mimi ni Mrussia, na hapa mimi ni Mkenya,” he quipped while pointing at the contrast on his skin.

Despite the exhaustion and weight loss, Omondi maintained that he has no regrets about undertaking the challenge.

He described the mission as bigger than personal discomfort, insisting the cause made every step worthwhile.

He also expressed gratitude to celebrities and supporters who joined him during different stretches of the walk, including Khaligraph Jones, Churchill, Amber Ray, Daddy Owen, Carol Radull, Jeff Koinange, Eko Dyda, Butita, Iyanii and Murugi Munyi, as well as members of Team Sisi Kwa Sisi.

Omondi concluded by urging Kenyans to continue contributing towards the project, saying the dream of a fully operational rescue centre is now closer than ever.
