Kenyan Comedian and activist Erick Omondi has hinted at the possibility of running for president, unveiling a list of major reforms he would implement if elected to lead the country.
In a statement shared online, Erick Omondi outlined a bold governance aimed at reducing the cost of government and restructuring Kenya’s political systems.
Among his proposals is reducing the current 47 counties to eight larger administrative regions.
Omondi also proposed doing away with the Senate of Kenya and scrapping the position of the Woman Representative, arguing that the changes would streamline governance and reduce government expenditure.
”If I was sworn in today as the President of the Republic of Kenya, I would do certain things as a matter of urgency, I would do away with devolution, do away with Woman Rep, reduce the number of MCAs, do away with the Senate, reduce the number of Cabinet Secretaries to seven, and reduce the salary of the government officials starting with mine,” Erick Omondi said.
He further suggested cutting the number of Cabinet Secretaries and reducing the number of Members of the National Assembly across the country as part of efforts to create a leaner government.
Omondi further pledged to ban the use of fuel-guzzling vehicles by government officials and end the large presidential motorcades, which he said symbolizes excessive government spending.

Omondi’s statement has hence sparked reactions from Kenyans, with some disputing his ideas while others say that he has brilliant agenda.
“Boss if that was possible some presidents would have removed all the counties, both the Senate and the Parliament.” One person noted.
”This will save a lot and the money will be used to improve infrastructure,” another one added.
Additionally, Erick Omondi promised to prioritize social services by providing free education and ensuring accessible healthcare for all Kenyans if he wins the presidency.
