The draw for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025, held on June 4 in Rabat, has unveiled a competitive and diverse tournament featuring 24 teams from around the world.
Scheduled from October 17 to November 8, 2025, this edition marks the first time the tournament will be hosted in Africa and the first to feature an expanded 24-team format played annually.
Morocco, as hosts, were drawn into Group A alongside Brazil, Italy, and Costa Rica. The opening match in Rabat will pit Morocco against Brazil, a team renowned for its strength at youth level, providing a historic and high-profile kickoff. This fixture will be a key test for Morocco as they showcase their development on home soil.
Cameroon faces a challenging Group B with North Korea, Mexico, and the Netherlands. The Cameroonian Lionesses will rely on tactical discipline and physicality to advance beyond their previous best of quarterfinal appearances.
Nigeria, drawn in Group D with France, Canada, and Samoa, aims to uphold its strong African legacy. The Nigerian Super Flamingos are seen as contenders to reach at least the quarterfinals, with their clash against France expected to be pivotal.
Making their tournament debut, Côte d’Ivoire is placed in Group E with Spain, Colombia, and South Korea.
The Ivorians will look to their speed and unpredictability to challenge established teams, particularly the runners-up Spain. Zambia, in Group F, faces Japan, New Zealand, and Paraguay.
The Copper Princesses aim to surpass past African performances despite the tough draw.
All matches will be played in Rabat’s four venues, including the Mohammed VI Football Academy and Prince Moulay Abdellah Olympic Stadium.
The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 16, promising an exciting knockout phase.
