In a decisive move against the proliferation of illegal alcohol, officers from Ikutha Police Station on Saturday, July 19 morning conducted a targeted raid in Kathome Village, Kasaala Sub-Location.
The operation, which is part of a broader crackdown on illicit brews, led to the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of 205 litres of mukasa, a banned local brew.
The five suspects are currently being held at Ikutha Police Station as authorities prepare to charge them in court.
The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to the fight against illegal alcohol and narcotic substances, noting in the statement, “We will not relent in our efforts to eliminate harmful substances from our communities. These crackdowns are ongoing and will continue countrywide.”
Residents in the area have been urged to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities linked to the manufacture or sale of illegal substances.
The seized brew has since been destroyed, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source and distribution network of the illicit product.
