Five comebacks headline thrilling Champions League Matchday 6

Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League delivered one of the most dramatic nights of the season, with five teams overturning early deficits to claim crucial victories.

Bayern München, Barcelona and Atalanta were among the sides that showed resilience as the league phase tightened across Europe.

In Munich, Bayern secured their place in the knockout rounds after rallying past Sporting with three late goals.

Despite dominating the opening half and striking the post through Harry Kane, the hosts fell behind when Joshua Kimmich diverted the ball into his own net early in the second period.

Serge Gnabry restored parity with a sharp volley, before 17-year-old Lennart Karl made history as the youngest player to score in three consecutive Champions League games. Jonathan Tah sealed the comeback with a late close-range finish.

Barcelona also staged a turnaround at Camp Nou after Eintracht Frankfurt took the lead through Ansgar Knauff’s precise strike.

The visitors rarely threatened afterward, and Barça made them pay after the interval. Marcus Rashford, introduced at half-time, immediately delivered a superb cross for Jules Koundé to head home, and the defender struck again minutes later from a Lamine Yamal delivery as Barcelona moved to ten points.

At San Siro, Liverpool edged Inter in a tight tactical contest decided by an 88th-minute penalty from Dominik Szoboszlai after Alessandro Bastoni fouled Florian Wirtz.

Earlier, Ibrahima Konaté saw a header ruled out for handball, and Alisson denied Lautaro Martínez with a superb save just before the break.

Atalanta added to Chelsea’s away-day frustrations with a spirited second-half recovery in Bergamo. After João Pedro put the visitors ahead, Charles De Ketelaere took command, first providing a pinpoint cross for Gianluca Scamacca before driving in a brilliant solo winner.

Elsewhere, Atlético Madrid collected their first away points by outlasting PSV in a five-goal thriller. Marseille survived a late Union SG fightback to win 3–2, while Tottenham cruised past Slavia Praha thanks to two second-half penalties from Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons.

Monaco stayed level on points with Galatasaray after Florian Balogun struck the decisive goal in a cagey meeting.

In Astana, Kairat Almaty goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov produced one of the performances of the night but could not prevent Olympiacos from finally breaking through, with Gelson Martins scoring the winner in the 73rd minute despite sustained Kazakh resistance.
