Five suspects have been charged before a Milimani court in Nairobi with conspiracy and preparation to commit a felony in connection with an alleged plot to break into the home of a senior Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
The accused — Charles Kiio Matata, David Ng’aa Mwangangi, Alex Mumo Kisilu, Richard Mwania Muasya and Stella Nzuki Mweni — are said to have conspired to commit the felony between March 18 and March 25, 2026, within the Republic of Kenya.
According to the charge sheet, the five, jointly with others not before court, allegedly plotted to break into the house of Major General George Okumu Opondo at Acacia Paradise Estate in Kitengela Town.
In a second count, the court heard that on March 25, 2026, at the same location, the accused were found armed with dangerous weapons including a claw bar, claw hammer, a knife and pliers, in circumstances indicating they intended to commit the felony of housebreaking.
The five appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Teresa Nyangena on Tuesday, April 7 where they denied the charges and pleaded for lenient bond terms.
The court released them on a cash bail of KSh500,000 each or an alternative bond of KSh1 million.
