The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) under President Hussein Mohammed’s stewardship has issued a firm directive to all football stakeholders across the country, reinforcing its exclusive mandate to control and supervise all football matches in the country as the National Sports Organisation and recognized member of FIFA and CAF.
“The Federation has taken note of organizations that have been organizing conducting football activities including operating private football academies and conducting player trials without prior notice or written appraisal from FKF,” part of the statement read.
The federation views these independent stakeholders operations as acts which undermine it’s authority and could possibly affect participants too.
”Such actions not only undermine the mandate of FKF but also the integrity of the game, and in some instances, exposes participants to risk and exploitation by both local and international actors,” FKF added.
Meanwhile the federation has insisted on cracking down on the illegal tournament organizers through stringent measures it has put in place to restore football dignity in the country.
Among the requirements that football organizers must now adhere to include submitting a written request to the FKF National Office at least 14 days prior to the planned football activity detailing everything related to the tournament.
Respective FKF’s branch representatives will take charge of county activities before submitting a copy of the stakeholder’s request to FKF Branch Office for coordination.
Despite coordination of these tournaments by FKF’s respective branch representatives, only FKF national office reserves the authority of approving or disqualifying any stakeholder’s tournament.
According to the federation, stakeholders and FKF official s who won’t adhere strictly to the outlined procedures will face hard sanctions.
“Any football activity conducted without FKF authorization shall be considered unaffiliated and unauthorized. Any FKF Member found to be engaging in any unauthorized football engagement may be subjected to disciplinary action, including suspension or deregistration, as per FKF Rules and Regulations,” FKF warned.
It now remains to be seen how things will unfold as FKF insists on protecting the game and its players.
