The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced disciplinary measures and official warnings following a review of SportPesa League Match No. 68 pitting Kakamega Homeboyz FC against Murang’a Seal FC.
The National Referees Committee conducted the assessment on Monday, 17th November 2025, leading to three key decisions targeting officiating lapses observed during the fixture.
Second Assistant Referee Jackson Opiayo has been suspended from SportPesa League appointments for three rounds and reassigned to the National Super League.
The committee found that Opiayo’s offside decision—made from an incorrect position denied the attacking team a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
FKF says his performance in the NSL will now be monitored closely, with a detailed evaluation required before he can be considered for reinstatement to top-flight duties.
Center Referee David Serem has received an official warning over a corner-kick decision that the committee determined lacked proper justification. Video footage did not support his call, and his explanation during the review was deemed unsatisfactory.
First Assistant Referee Gladys Kamuren has similarly been cautioned for her role in the same incident.
Despite being in the best position to judge whether the ball had gone out of play, the committee faulted her signalling and communication, which contributed to the incorrect decision.
FKF reaffirmed its commitment to improving officiating standards across all competitions, noting that continuous training, evaluations, and corrective action will remain central to enhancing integrity and consistency in Kenyan football.
