Forged land documents, drugs and ammunition recovered, 4 suspects arrested at Kenyan coast

Detectives at the Kenyan Coast have intensified a sweeping operation targeting criminal networks, leading to the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of ammunition, narcotics and forged land documents.

In a statement shared on its official X account, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the ongoing crackdown “continues to bear fruit” as officers pursue gangs linked to illegal activities across the region.

Acting on what the agency described as “credible intelligence,” detectives arrested Mohamed Omar Deya, alias “Babanginda.” According to the DCI, the suspect was found “in possession of three rounds of ammunition and a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotic drugs.”

Officers widened the dragnet and apprehended two more suspects — Hanif Iqbal Sharbaz and Wisdorn Ndoro Mwalimu — who were allegedly found with forged land-related documents.

The DCI noted that the documents were among exhibits “believed to be linked to criminal activities.”

In a separate but related operation, detectives also arrested Priscila Lodukae.

A search conducted at her residence alongside John Wachira Wanguno led to the recovery of “packages of suspected cannabis sativa and cash in various denominations believed to be proceeds from drug sales,” the statement added.

The agency reiterated that dismantling criminal enterprises remains a key focus.

“The fight against crime, narcotics trafficking, and substance abuse remains a top priority in the Coast region and across the country,” the DCI stated.

Members of the public have been urged to support security agencies by sharing information that could aid investigations.

The DCI encouraged Kenyans to report suspicious activities anonymously through its toll-free number 0800 722 203 or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.
