A form three student was brutally murdered and her younger brother seriously injured in a horrifying knife attack by an alleged boyfriend at their home in Olando village, Kibwer Sub-location, Suba South Sub-County.

The victim, a student at St. Joseph’s Olando Mixed Secondary School, was stabbed to death around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. Her Grade Six brother sustained multiple stab wounds during the same incident.

According to Assistant Chief of Kibwer Sub-location Richard Okinyi, the suspect, believed to be the girl’s boyfriend, had a disagreement with her earlier in the day. He reportedly broke into the house where the girl and her brother were sleeping, and launched a violent attack, stabbing her in the back and head.

Alarmed by the commotion, family members and neighbors rushed to the scene and took the injured girl to Magunga Level Four Hospital. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The assailant is reported to have turned on the younger brother after attacking her sister, stabbing him on the hand, abdomen, and head before fleeing the scene.

The boy was also rushed to Magunga Level Four Hospital and remains admitted in critical condition.

Chief Okinyi confirmed that the suspect’s identity remains unknown, as the girl’s family was unfamiliar with him.

Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, working closely with local police.

The girl’s body has been transferred to St. Camillus Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.

Residents have been left in shock, with calls growing for heightened security and mental health awareness among youth in relationships.
