Tragedy struck Olando village in Homa Bay County after a form three student was brutally killed and her younger brother seriously injured in a late-night attack at their home.
The victim, Alphins Opuodho, a student at St Joseph’s Olando Mixed Secondary School, was allegedly stabbed to death by a man believed to be her boyfriend around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Reports suggest that the two had a disagreement earlier in the day, which may have led to the deadly confrontation.
According to Kibwer Sub-location Assistant Chief Richard Okinyi, the assailant stormed the house where Alphins and her Grade six brother were sleeping. He stabbed the girl multiple times in the back and head before turning on her brother, inflicting serious injuries to his hand, abdomen, and head.
Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing screams and took the siblings to Magunga Level Four Hospital.
Sadly, Alphins was pronounced dead on arrival, while her brother was admitted in serious condition.
The suspect’s identity remains unknown, and the family claims they did not recognize him. Police have launched a manhunt for the attacker, as Alphins body was moved to St Camillus Hospital Mortuary.
