Former Rongo Member of Parliament (MP) Dalmas Otieno has died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nairobi.
According to a member of his family, the former Rongo MP passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Otieno has been a key figure in Kenya’s political landscape, including during the Moi and Kibaki era and was a long-serving MP.
The former politician, who also served as Minister of State for Public Service among other senior government roles, was widely respected for his firm leadership and contributions to Kenya’s development agenda.
He was first elected to Parliament as MP for Rongo in 1988, serving as Minister for Industrialisation from 1988 to 1991.
After Cabinet reshuffles, he served as Minister of Labour & Human Resource Development and as Minister of Transport from 1991 to 1996.
