Former Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto, saying he will mobilize Siaya residents to withdraw support for the government if the Head of State fails to intervene in a property dispute involving former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.
Speaking during a presser at his rural home in Segere, Rasanga accused unnamed individuals of attempting to dispossess Tuju of property he claims was acquired through hard work.
He described the matter as not just Tuju’s personal battle but one that affects the entire Siaya community.
The former governor declared that they are not going to support the Broad-based government in any way if things like this would be happening to them, urging President Ruto to ensure the Karen property is restored to Tuju.
He further announced plans to lead a symbolic protest march from Siaya to Nairobi, a journey he estimated could take up to 10 days, to demand justice for Tuju.
The former Siaya County boss said volunteers would walk the distance to demonstrate the community’s resolve, adding that signatures would be collected from those willing to participate.
Rasanga also appealed for dialogue between rival political factions within ODM party, suggesting that respected figures such as retired ACK Maseno West Bishop Joseph Otieno Wasonga and Arch-Bishop Emeritus Zachaus Okoh of the Catholic Diocese of Kisumu could mediate.
He insisted that the ODM party must field a presidential candidate in future elections, regardless of the outcome.
Tuju, a former Jubilee Party Secretary-General and Cabinet Secretary without portfolio, has been embroiled in a long-running legal battle over property ownership in Karen, Nairobi.
