Seven people were confirmed dead on Sunday August 10, 2025 in two separate road accidents in Makueni County.
In the first incident, four family members died on the spot while another person was injured in an accident after their private car’s tyre burst, forced it to roll several times at Utafiti, Kisayani, in Kibwezi West constituency, Makueni County on the busy Kibwezi-Kitui highway.
Confirming the incident, Kibwezi Traffic Police Commander Maurice Situma said the bodies of the four including a teacher from St. Mary’s Kinyambu Secondary School who was the driver have been taken to Kibwezi Funeral Morgue, while the injured survivor is receiving treatment at Amref Kibwezi hospital.
In the second accident, a boda boda rider and his passenger died in an accident after being hit by a Mash Poa bus at Sultan Hamud along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
At the time of the accident, they were coming from the Sultan Hamud hospital mortuary, after transporting their colleague’s body who had been knocked down by a private saloon car in the Kalimbini area near Sultan Hamud.
The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on the highway for a while during the night, though police later managed to clear the situation.
