Four police officers arrested over robbery and stealing in Kitengela

Four police officers were arrested in Kitengela, Kajiado County on Wednesday March 25, 2026 after being linked to a robbery incident in the area.

The officers together with one civilian identified as Eric, who is still at large, robbed one Djuma Yasin Mumbele, a Congolese national of a diamond necklace worth KSh 247,000, cash 3000 dollars, 300 Euros and KSh 500.

“Be informed that today the following officers namely; Lincoln Ashioya, Tom Odero Abwoga from Muungano Police Station in Machakos County, Samuel Gathitu Ng’ang’a of Elwak Police Station, attached at the Office of the Deputy President and Perminus Muiruri Kamau of DCI Kitengela were arrested in connection with  the offence of robbery with violence contrary to Section 295 as read with Section 296 (2) of the penal code vide OB 140/23/03/2026,” read part of the police report.

According to the police report filed at the Kitengela Police Station, the victim sustained neck and back injury during the incident. 

The victim was escorted to Kitengela Level 4 Hospital where he was treated and later discharged in stable condition. 

The four officers were placed in custody, awaiting to be arraigned in court, at the Kajiado Law Courts. 

However, the Office of the Deputy President has dismissed claims that one of the police officers at the office was involved in a robbery incident in Kitengela, clarifying that the officer was transferred to Elwak Police Station on disciplinary issues and he hasn’t reported.

“I have confirmed that this officer was transferred to Elwak Police Station on disciplinary issues and he hasn’t reported. He is a rogue one,” read part of the statement.
