A French woman has been reported dead after succumbing to severe injuries sustained after falling from a parachute on the outskirts of Iten Town, Keiyo North Sub-County, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The deceased and her husband had arrived in Kenya on January 17 this year as tourists and were scheduled to leave on January 31.
Confirming the incident, the county police commander, Peter Mulinge, said they received a report from Pierre Louis Henri Laurens that he and his wife, Maud Frederique Binaud, had gone paragliding towards the Nyaru area in Keiyo South Constituency, but communication was lost during their return journey.
The commander added that after losing communication, the husband was forced to land at Iten field in Iten Town to call his wife.
The call was received by an unidentified person who informed him that his wife had been involved in an accident and was receiving treatment at Iten County Referral Hospital.
The body of the deceased has been preserved at the mortuary at Iten County Referral Hospital, awaiting transfer to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
