Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has dismissed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s return to the country, accusing him of plotting to stage-manage an arrest in order to revive what he described as “buried tribal and hateful political career.”
Gachagua arrived back in Kenya on Thursday, August 21 after a trip to the United States (U.S), an event that drew political attention.
In a strongly worded statement, Kaluma alleged that the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader was keen on using arrest or confrontation with authorities as a political weapon to regain lost ground.
“Gachagua was pushing to be arrested on arrival from the USA so as to resurrect his buried tribal and hateful political career. We are too smart for this. We will ignore him and add more soil to his deepening political grave,” Kaluma wrote on his X account.
Kaluma argued that Kenyans had moved beyond divisive politics, emphasizing that the Broad-based Government, forged after President William Ruto signed a unity pact with ODM Leader Raila Odinga, was meant to unite all Kenyans regardless of tribe or political affiliation.
“The Broad-Based Government unites and includes all Kenyans as equal citizens,” the MP stated, underscoring his belief that Kenya’s political future lies in inclusivity rather than ethnic mobilization.
