Homabay town mp Peter Kaluma has dismissed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s return to the country, accusing him of plotting to stage-manage an arrest in order to revive what he described as ” buried tribal and hateful political career.”
Gachagua arrived back in Kenya yesterday after a trip to the United States, an event that drew political attention amid speculation about his next moves following his impeachment.
In a strongly worded statement, Kaluma alleged that the former DP was keen on using arrest or confrontation with authorities as a political weapon to regain lost ground.
“Gachagua was pushing to be arrested on arrival from the USA so as to resurrect his buried tribal and hateful political career. We are too smart for this. We will ignore him and add more soil to his deepening political grave,” Kaluma wrote on his official social media page.”
Kaluma argued that kenyans had moved beyond divisive politics, emphasizing that the Broad-based government(BBG) championed by President William Ruto was meant to unite all citizens regardless of tribe or political affiliation.
The Broad-Based Government unites and includes all Kenyans as equal citizens,” the MP stated, underscoring his belief that Kenya’s political future lies in inclusivity rather than ethnic mobilization.
Gachagua, who has recently faced political isolation, remains a polarizing figure. While his allies argue that he has been unfairly targeted, his critics maintain that his rhetoric has often deepened ethnic divisions.
Kaluma’s remarks reflect the charged political atmosphere following Gachagua’s return, as leaders continue to take positions on his relevance and future role in the country’s politics.
