Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s perceived overconfidence arguing it has seriously undermined his credibility despite his acquired wealth and platform.
In a statement released on his X account on Tuesday August 12, 2025, Ledama slammed Gachagua by remarking that although the former Deputy President possesses ample knowledge for meaningful discussions on administration, the manner in which he communicates occasionally weakens the impact of his viewpoints.
“Although Riggy G possesses the wealth and platform to engage in informed discourse on Kenyan governance, his overconfidence and dismissive commentary undermine the credibility such opportunities could afford. Good Morning!” Ledama stated.
The former Deputy President has been highly critical of the Kenya Kwanza administration since his impeachment on October 17, 2024 and has recently ramped up his criticisms during his U.S tour to actively appeal to the Kenyan diaspora to contribute financially to his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Recently, Gachagua accused President William Ruto by linking him to Sudan’s paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) along with the Somalia based terror group Al-Shabaab.
“I saw Ruto today fumbling with words, claiming the Americans have a problem with him because of his relationship with China. That is not the issue. The Americans want to investigate, to unearth, your business dealings with Hemedti (Mohamed Hamdan Dagal) of RSF, where you are doing good business and supplying arms to the terrorist group to kill women and children,” Gachagua claimed.
He also dared the President to come clean to the public about a claimed night time meeting with three Al-Shabaab militants, supposedly to discuss ‘business’.
This prompted Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday, August 11, 2025, to order Gachagua to avail himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to record a statement upon his return to Kenya after his US tour.
“We expect him to tell us which Al-Shabaab did we negotiate with and who negotiated with those Al-Shabaab because we must stop the propaganda that is going on outside the country,” Murkomen announced.
