Garissa: 4 Al-Shabaab terrorists killed, 2 AK47 rifles and machine gun recovered

Four suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed on Monday June 2, 2025 in a clash with police officers in Najo and Guracho areas of Garissa County.

Two AK-47 rifles, a PKM machine gun and a communication radio were recovered from the suspects during the incident.

According to the police report, the four terrorists were combing the area with plans to attack security personnel.

The clash happened after the team from Kenya’s elite Special Operations Group (SOG) trailed them for hours.

The militants were first spotted by a surveillance drone, after which the units tracked and engaged them, leading to the fatal clash.

Police explained that there was a fierce exchange of gunfire, resulting in four terrorists being killed.

This marks another major victory in a series of well-coordinated operations that continue to cripple al-Shabaab activities in the country.

Reports indicate that the gang crosses from Somalia through the porous border before launching attacks in the North Eastern region.

In most cases, the terrorists plant explosives on major routes and target security installations in attacks.

Others target nonlocals as part of their strategies to advance their agenda.
