Gospel singer Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, commonly known as Betty Bayo, has passed away. Reports show that she passed away on Monday November 10, 2025 while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.
The news of her demise was confirmed by Muthee Kengei who revealed that Bayo died after battling Leukemia.
“Living a life of praising God and business, the mother of two has been a jovial artist until lately when she was diagnosed with blood cancer (Leukemia) at an advanced stage,..
“She leaves behind a legacy of a great contribution in the growth of Gospel Music industry, friendship and a soul that maximised its full potential, She has rested having served…… My condolences to your Mum, Husband, Siblings, Friends, Music industry and to your beautifu children,” he wrote.
Betty, who rose to fame through her gospel hit song 11th hour, has for years been a household name in the Kenyan gospel industry.
Her music, often filled with messages of hope, faith and resilience, inspired countless fans across the country.
Betty Bayo was previously married to controversial pastor Victor Kanyari and was said to be living alone and raising her children following their separation. She still remained an influential figure in the entertainment scene even after stepping back from the limelight.
The news has stirred widespread reactions among her fans and within the gospel music community, with many expressing disbelief and offering prayers for her family.
