Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on elected leaders across the country to prioritize service delivery over premature political campaigns, warning that the rising political temperatures could derail development efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Trans Nzoia County during the final send-off ceremony for his aunt, the late Mama Tesra Nandwa Tori on Saturday July 19, 2025, Lusaka reminded leaders that their performance will ultimately be judged by the impact of their service to the people, not political rhetoric.

“Let us focus on service delivery for our people,” Lusaka said. “Our scorecard will be evaluated in 2027, and it will be based on what we have done for the electorate, not how loud our politics is.”

The Governor emphasised the importance of moderation in public discourse, warning that heightened political activity at this stage risks disrupting critical development programmes.

Lusaka further called for enhanced collaboration and unity among leaders in the region, urging them to set aside political differences and work together to spur socio-economic progress.

“Divisive politics is detrimental to our region’s development. We must speak in one voice and build on the agricultural milestones that counties like Bungoma and Trans Nzoia have already achieved,” Lusaka added.

His remarks come at a time when political alignments and early campaigns are beginning to shape the national landscape, prompting concerns over the possible slowdown in service delivery.

Governor Lusaka’s message served as a rallying call for leaders to put the needs of their constituents first and champion policies that will improve livelihoods and regional growth.
