Governor Sakaja fined KSh500,000 for ignoring Senate summons; IG ordered to present him

The Senate’s County Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday, March 24 imposed a KSh500,000 fine on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

The Committee further directed the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to present Governor Sakaja before the committee on Monday, March 30, having snubbed four previous meetings.

The chairperson of the committee, Moses Kajwang, insisted that if IG Kanja fails to produce the county boss to respond to audit queries for the Financial Year 2024/2025, the committee will resolve that Sakaja is unfit to hold public office, a resolution that will be forwarded to IEBC for its consideration.

The committee is chaired by Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’.

The Committee has further resolved that they will adopt the Auditor General’s report as is with Nairobi flagged for illegalities and misappropriation of public resources.

The committee says Governor Sakaja has ignored its summons four times.
