Governors Lusaka, Ochilo Ayacko, Orengo visit Raila’s grave in Bondo

A delegation of prominent leaders led by Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, and Siaya Governor James Orengo made a visit to the final resting place of the late Raila Amolo Odinga on October 22, 2025, marking the third day since his burial.

The leaders arrived at the Odinga homestead in Bondo mid-morning, where they were received by members of the Odinga family and close allies of the late statesman.

The visit was characterized by solemn reflection, prayers, and tributes to Raila’s enduring legacy in Kenya’s political and democratic journey.

Governor Lusaka described Raila as “a towering figure whose influence transcended political boundaries,” while Governor Ayacko noted that “Raila’s vision for a united Kenya will continue to guide our leadership.”

Governor Orengo, visibly emotional, reiterated Raila’s lifelong commitment to justice and equity, calling him “the conscience of our republic.”

The leaders laid wreaths at the grave and held a brief interfaith prayer session led by local clergy.  Also present were county officials from various regions, underscoring Raila’s national stature.

The visit comes amid ongoing tributes from across the country and beyond, with mourners continuing to stream into Bondo to pay their respects.

Raila Odinga was laid to rest on Sunday October 19, 2025 in a ceremony attended by thousands, including President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

As the nation mourns, leaders have called for unity and reflection on the values Raila championed throughout his life; democracy, justice, and inclusive governance.
