Governors Wanga and Nyong’o praise their residents for holding peaceful demonstrations

Kisumu County Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o and his Homa-Bay County Counter part Gladys Wanga have thanked residents from their respective counties for going about June 25th anniversary protests peacefully

Governor Gladys Wanga lauded residents for maintaining peace and order, even as other parts of the country witnessed renewed demonstrations.

In a statement released on Wednesday night, Governor Wanga expressed gratitude for the calm and respectful manner in which Homa Bay observed the solemn day.

She described the peaceful engagement as a true reflection of the people’s unwavering commitment to unity and national progress.

“I take this opportunity to send special gratitude to you, the people of Homa Bay County, for the remarkable way in which you have maintained peace throughout the day,” Wanga’s statement read.

“Your choice to remember our fallen heroes through peaceful engagement is highly commendable and showcases your commitment to a stable and united nation.”

Meanwhile Wanga’s commendation follows a similar message from her Kisumu counterpart, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, who also thanked residents of the lakeside city for their decision to largely abstain from the day’s protests.

While other major cities saw renewed demonstrations, Kisumu remained relatively calm, a testament, Nyong’o noted, to the vigilance of its people in protecting human rights and expressing constructive dissent.
