Political Analyst Herman Manyora has been charged with cheating over KSh516,000 tender scam, and released on KSh2 million bond
The political analyst has been charged with cheating contrary to Section 315 of the Penal Code after allegedly obtaining KSh516,000 through fraudulent tricks in a fake tender deal involving Nairobi Hospital.
Harman Bond Manyora appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai at the Milimani Law Courts where he denied the charges.
According to the charge sheet, the court heard that between August 15, 2024 and October 30, 2024, in Nairobi County, he allegedly obtained KSh516,000 from Josephine Luceno Kavulani by falsely claiming he would facilitate the award of Tender No. TNH/ITB/016/24/ENGINEERING at Nairobi Hospital to her company, Sipho Construction Limited.
The prosecution said the complainant would not have paid the money were it not for the alleged fraudulent misrepresentation.
Through his lawyer Nelson Havi, Manyora applied to be released on bond, telling the court that he is not a flight risk and had honoured summons to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations when required.
The prosecution did not oppose his release but told the court that cash bail should be at the court’s discretion.
In his ruling, Magistrate Mutai noted that the accused had previously been released on a personal bond while in police custody and had complied with the terms.
“I have considered the application for bond and note that the prosecution is not opposed. I also note that the accused was earlier released on a personal bond by the police and complied. I will therefore release him on a personal bond of Sh2 million with two contact persons,” the magistrate ruled.
The case will be mentioned on April 13, 2026.
