“I may never perform in Kenya again” – Gabzy breaks silence on fan’s tragic death at his concert

British-Nigerian Afrobeats artist Gabriel Akinyemi, popularly known as Gabzy, has finally spoken out following the death of 22-year-old Karen Eleman Lojore at his Nairobi concert on December 20, 2025, revealing the profound impact the tragedy has had on him.

Gabzy took to Instagram to respond to a message from Karen’s friend, Gitata, who had reached out seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding Karen’s death at the Tukutane entertainment-organized event.

In a message that has since gone viral, Gitata wrote, “Good evening Gabzy. My name is Gitata from Kenya and I am texting you to ask for your help. My friend Karen Eleman Lojore died on the 20th December 2025 at a concert organized by tukutane entertainment. She came to the concert to see you perform.”

The heartfelt plea continued, “Since her death, Tukutane only issued a press statement that wasn’t detailed. We want them to answer our questions. Tell us exactly what happened and explain why their security system failed to the point that our Lojo had to loose her life and she had a ticket.”

Gitata’s message captured the pain felt by many: “We want justice and to be assured that no other mother will have to feel what Lojores mom is feeling right now or a friend have to go through what I feel. May God bless you in advance. #justiceforkarenlojore”

Gabzy’s response reflected the heavy emotions of an artist trying to come to terms with an unimaginable situation.

“Hey Gitata, I’m also searching for the same answers. This has affected me to the point that I don’t think I’d ever do another show in Kenya again so I can only imagine how it has her family and friends. I’ve spoken to some friends and her mum. I’m with you and hope the answers come to light soon,” he wrote.

Gabzy also made a video explaining the situation and how things went south.

“Hey, I’ve heard the news about what’s happened at the festival and my heart goes out to the family, the friends. I couldn’t imagine what you guys are going through right now. This is honestly devastating for me, especially knowing that she was a fan of mine,” he said.

He added, “I just want to say if there’s anything I can do to help or support, please let me know and may her soul rest in peace.”

Many are questioning the safety measures at entertainment events and demanding transparency from Tukutane Entertainment, whose press statement following the tragedy has been criticized for lacking crucial details about what exactly happened and why security systems failed.
