‘I would rather stay single than marrying a Kenyan man,’ – Huddah Monroe

Socialite and businesswoman Huddah Monroe has caused a stir online after releasing a video on her Instagram Stories criticizing the conduct of Kenyan men.

In the clip, she expressed frustration with what she described as disrespectful interactions, comparing the behaviour to what she is accustomed to in other countries.

Huddah said she prefers environments where men approach women politely and with permission, noting that in some places men begin conversations respectfully by asking, “Excuse me ma’am, permission to speak freely.”

According to her, this creates space for genuine interaction, compliments, and healthy dialogue. She argued that Kenyan men, in contrast, often approach her with entitlement.

“Kenyan men come with so much audacity,” she said. “If I don’t lay with you, if I haven’t seen you in ten or twenty years, I don’t remember you.

Even if I met you yesterday and I’m not interested in dating you, I don’t remember you.”

She added that even when she tries to be polite, some men still end up saying offensive or inappropriate things.

This, she said, has pushed her to avoid unnecessary greetings or conversations when spotted in public.

“Mkiniona mahali, msinisalimie,” she remarked, making it clear she does not want random interactions. Huddah went further to declare that she would rather remain single than consider marrying a Kenyan man under the current circumstances.

However, she made one exception. Huddah praised Gen Z men, describing them as respectful and well-mannered compared to millennials and older groups.

“The only Kenyan men who can talk to me are Gen Z,” she said. “They’re very respectful. These millennial and Wantam-age men are a product of their environment.”
