Tanzanian singer Ibraah has sparked fresh speculation about his next career move after hinting at a possible signing with Diamond Platnumz’s Wasafi Records, one of East Africa’s biggest music labels.
Speaking during an interview with Manucho on Baze47 at Radio 47, Ibraah responded to a pointed question about whether he might soon be joining Wasafi, saying: “Bado unaenda Wasafi?”
Ibraah’s response was direct and strategic.
“Muziki ni biashara, na biashara haichagui ni angle gani inatakiwa ilimradi tu hiyo biashara ni nzuri na ina faida kwangu ni sawa. Ikiwa ni biashara nzuri, nitafanya,” he said.
(Translation: “Music is business, and business doesn’t choose which angle it comes from. As long as it’s good business and beneficial for me, I’m in. If it’s a good deal, I’ll do it.”)
The comment has ignited conversation online, with fans speculating whether a collaboration or even a formal signing under Diamond’s Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) label is in the works.
This development comes after Ibraah’s dramatic exit from Konde Gang Music Worldwide, the label founded by Harmonize, a former Wasafi artist himself.
Ibraah parted ways with Konde Gang due to what he previously described as “irreconcilable differences,” choosing instead to go independent in the next phase of his career.
While Ibraah has yet to confirm any official talks with Wasafi, his openness to the idea signals a possible shift in alliances in the highly competitive Tanzanian music scene.
Should the move happen, it would not only mark a reunion of sorts between Ibraah and his former mentor’s rival but could also send shockwaves through the East African music industry, bridging the gap between two of Tanzania’s most influential music camps.
