The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has pledged to conduct credible by-elections in Ugunja Constituency, with Vice Chairperson Fahima Araphat Abdallah encouraging strong voter participation.
Speaking to journalists at the IEBC’s Ugunja tallying center located at Ambira High School, Commissioner Araphat confirmed that all necessary preparations had been completed to guarantee transparent and fair electoral processes.
She called on registered voters to cast their ballots confidently and without apprehension.
During her tour of polling stations, including a stop at Siror Primary School, Araphat outlined security arrangements designed to protect both voters and election officials.
Security forces have been stationed across all 116 polling centers and tallying locations throughout the constituency.
Commissioner Araphat revealed that security agencies had provided assurances regarding comprehensive protective measures for the electoral exercise.
She also made a broader appeal to citizens participating in by-elections across the country to uphold national peace and unity throughout the voting process, emphasizing the importance of protecting Kenya’s stability during this democratic exercise.
Ugunja is one of six National Assembly constituencies holding by-elections today, alongside races in Malava, Magarini, Banissa, Mbeere North, Kasipul, and a Senate contest in Baringo County.
