Residents of Nduma Village in Kikuyu Constituency, Kiambu County, have recovered a suspected colonial-era live 80mm mortar artillery shell.
David Muiruri confirmed discovering the object when he was tilling his shamba. Muiruri told TV47 Digital that he was intrigued by its shape, prompting him to alert security officers.
Confirming the incident, Kikuyu Sub-County Police Commander Joseph Ndege said the artillery shell is a highly explosive device, urging Kenyans to be extra cautious when handling suspicious gadgets. He also suspects that such explosive devices found in the area were left behind during colonial era.
