International friendly: Benni McCarthy picks first win as Harambee Stars secure a 2-1 victory against Chad

Harambee Stars secured a 2-1 victory over Chad in an international friendly at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco, marking their first win under head coach Benni McCarthy.

Emmanuel Osoro opened the scoring for Kenya in the 18th minute, calmly finishing a cross from Ben Omondi.

The goal gave the Stars an early advantage, which they built on just before halftime when David Sakwa doubled the lead, sending Kenya into the break with a 2-0 cushion.

Chad, who had held Kenya to a goalless draw in their previous encounter, came out stronger in the second half and were rewarded in the 60th minute when Ali Mahamat Adam pulled one back.

Despite Chad’s increased pressure, Kenya’s defense held firm to secure the win.

This result marks McCarthy’s first victory in four matches since taking charge of the Harambee Stars in March 2025, providing a much-needed boost for the team as they prepare for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025.

The tournament, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, will see the Stars aiming to build on this momentum.

Elsewhere, Burundi played out a goalless draw against Mauritania in another international friendly held in Morocco on Tuesday evening.
