Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi is counting losses after his private businesses near Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi were vandalised in the wee hours of Wednesday, January 13 night.
Reports indicate that police-guarded teams arrived at the premises at around midnight and forcefully demolished the businesses that included a car wash, a car dealership and a car parts store.
By morning, debris and damaged structures were visible, with access along sections of Douglas Wakiihuri Road restricted, disrupting movement.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the demolitions are meant to pave way for the construction of a train station which would link the Nairobi CBD to Nyayo and the upcoming Talanta Stadium.
However, Governor Wamatangi has dismissed the reports, insisting that politics is at play in the whole saga.
