Reality stars, actors, royals and a whole host of A-listers travelled to Venice for the lavish wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and TV presenter Lauren Sanchez.

Among the notable celebrities in the wedding were, Oprah Winfrey, Orlando Bloom, Kylie Jenner and Ivanka Trump were just some of the celebrities seen on the boats and streets of the Italian city on Thursday and Friday.

The event attracted protests from a variety of groups in Venice, including locals fighting over-tourism to climate change activists.

Sanchez, 55, wore a lace Dolce & Gabbana haute couture gown for the wedding – she was seen smiling alongside a jubilant Bezos, 61, after the ceremony, in a picture posted on Instagram.

An estimated 200 people were invited to Friday’s ceremony on the small island of San Giorgio, where Matteo Bocelli – son of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli – reportedly performed.

While the exact cost of the wedding is not known, estimates range from $20m (£14m) to more than $50m.

News of Bezos and Sánchez romance broke in early January 2019, around the same time that Bezos announce his divorce from Mackenzie Scott  after 25 years together in a joint statement on X (formerly Twitter). Bezos and Scott share four children.

At the time, Sánchez was also divorcing her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell. Sánchez has two children with the Hollywood agent, as well as a son from a previous relationship with former NFL star Tony Gonzalez.

After ending their respective marriages, Bezos and Sánchez started dating.

In a statement shared on Bezos’ X account, the couple announced that they had decided to continue their “shared lives as friends.”

“We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again,” they added in the statement.
