Judge Bahati Mwamuye transferred to Kiambu Law Courts

High Court Judge Justice Bahati Mwamuye of the Constitutional and Human Rights Division has been transferred to Kiambu, bringing to a close his tenure at the Milimani based division.

The judge announced the transfer on February 23, 2026 during the mention of a matter that was pending before him.

“Matter is pending case management due to developments in this case, I am proceeding on transfer. I would not be able to handle this matter,” he noted.

He informed parties that due to his redeployment, he would not be in a position to proceed with the case. He directed that the file be placed before the incoming judge for further directions and proposed May 4th as the next mention date when the new judge will be available.

Justice Mwamuye has been serving in the Constitutional and Human Rights Division at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi, where he has handled a range of public interest litigation, constitutional petitions, and judicial review matters.

His docket has included cases touching on governance, enforcement of fundamental rights and freedoms, and interpretation of constitutional provisions.

During his time at the division, he presided over interlocutory applications, issued conservatory orders in appropriate cases, and guided complex constitutional disputes through case management stages.
