Junior Stars fall to Ethiopia but sail into U17 AFCON Qualifers semifinals

The national Under-17 football team fell 1–0 to Ethiopia in their final Group A match of the CECAFA Regional Qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations U17 AFCON at the Abebe Bikila Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Ethiopia’s danger man Dawit Kasaw delivered the decisive moment in the 60th minute, unleashing a low strike from the edge of the box that beat Junior Stars goalkeeper Chris Georgian.

William Muluya’s side struggled to respond, finding little rhythm in attack as the hosts maintained a disciplined defensive shape to protect their lead.

Despite the defeat, both teams had already secured their places in the tournament’s semifinals, which also serve as qualifiers for next year’s Africa U17 Cup of Nations.

Ethiopia advance as Group A leaders with 10 points, while Kenya finish second on seven.
