Kalonzo’s Party rebrands to Wiper Patriotic Front

The Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s party has formally rebranded its name to Wiper Patriotic Front from the founding name, Wiper Democratic Movement per a Kenya Gazette notice published by the Registrar of Political Parties.

Musyoka emphasized that the rebrand was a strategic move to revitalize the party’s image and bring young people on board.

“The party now has a new face – Wiper is going national. The new name will be Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) so that our Gen Z are fully included,” Kalonzo said during a stop last Friday in Emali, Makueni County.

He went on to urge young people to take advantage of the opportunity to join the party, adding that its name pays tribute to the Gen-z patriotism witnessed during the 2024 protests.

At the same time, the Registrar of Political Parties notice resolved Jubilee Party wrangles and power struggle that had some officials backing former President Uhuru Kenyatta pursue a legal intervention to block his exit from the party helm.

However, Kenyatta retains his role as party leader, alongside Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Deputy National Chair David Maina, the National chair for the league of persons with disabilities-among other officials who survived the purge.

Some new members have been added to the party, namely Beatrice Gambo who is now the Deputy Party Leader (Strategy) replacing Jimmy Angwenyi who was fired, Joseph Manje who succeeds the outgoing leader Deputy Party Leader (Outreach) following the removal of Naomi Shabaan who was the previous office holder.

Similarly, Yassin Noor inherits the position of Joshua Kutuny as Deputy SG, and Pauline Njoroge succeeds the position of Deputy National Organizing Secretary from Mutava Musyimi.

Former Kieni legislator Kanini Kega who was the party’s National Director in charge of elections was among those dismissed, with the party yet to gazette his replacement.
