The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has announced the reopening of the Nakuru bound carriageway of the Nakuru – Eldoret (A8) after a sinkhole formed near Eveready roundabout.
In a statement on Thursday September 4, 2025, KeNHA explained that the road has been opened and traffic flow restored.
”The road is now safe from any further water and geological action,” KeNHA reported.
The authority added that it shall continue monitoring the behaviour of the road to ensure safety of all road users.
This development comes several hours after KeNHA issued an advisory warning all road users about closure of the Nakuru bound carriageway at Eveready Roundabout.
KeNHA added that it was due to the formation of a sinkhole on the road due to overflowing water and geological action.
The road authority had emphasized that it was working round the clock to ensure normal traffic flow is restored.
KENHA had advised motorists to exercise caution as they approach the area and follow directions from traffic police .
”Motorists are advised to exercise caution as they approach the area and follow directions from traffic police and marshals to ensure the safety of all road users,” read part of KeNHA’s earlier notice.
