Kenya Morans set for Zambezi 7s Challenge as Coach Wambua names squad

Kenya’s second sevens team, the Morans, are set to represent the country at this year’s Zambezi 7s tournament, with Head Coach Kevin Wambua exuding confidence in the squad’s blend of youth, skill, and hunger for success.

Wambua unveiled the 12-man travelling squad, describing the tournament as a vital platform for emerging talent to gain international exposure and build depth for the senior Kenya Sevens program.

Speaking ahead of their departure, Coach Wambua said the players have trained intensely and are eager to prove themselves.

“We have assembled a quality squad with a blend of skill, energy, and hunger to compete. This is an important step for these players as we continue strengthening the pipeline for the national sevens program. We believe they are ready to represent the country with pride and deliver excellent performances,” he said.

The Morans have been drawn in Pool B alongside Pitbulls and Old Hararians, setting the stage for a competitive weekend of rugby action.

The Zambezi 7s tournament, a key fixture in the regional rugby calendar, will provide a crucial testing ground for Kenya’s next generation of sevens stars as they look to impress and stake their claim for future selection to the senior Shujaa squad.
