Kenya Space Agency partners with schools to advance AI driven innovations

The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) has partnered with schools in Western region to advance Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven innovations.

The KSA initiative focuses mainly on earth observation, edge computing and satellite networking technologies.

Speaking at Kolanya Girls’ national school in Busia County, KSA programmer Joan Ekale noted that this collaboration aims at strengthening Kenya’s space capacity and fostering space innovation among schools.

More than 11 schools across Western region participated in the forum that advocated for the need to embrace Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects to keep pace with global advancement in technology.

Kolanya Girls’ school principal Dr. Thabitha Okama who hosted over 11 schools, applauded the move, noting that it was inline with the competence based curriculum (CBC).

Okama explained that STEM subjects give learners avenues to explore careers like computer science, space technology, rocket development among other AI courses.

Teachers led by Polycarp Majoni and Noel Kabeta challenged girls to embrace STEM subjects to reap the benefits of technology.

The teachers emphasized that the world is moving towards technological advancements hence the need for advocacy on science and technology subjects.
