Kenya is set to host a four-day global peace conference in Nairobi targeting youths and several groups to embrace unity, hope, and a renewed sense of humanity as they play a central role in shaping the future of the continent.
Prof. Madhu Krishan Speaking ahead of the event he told scribes that the forum seeks to inspire young people to see themselves as “global citizens” beyond political boundaries, while championing peace and sustainable development.
“We want to foster the sense of unity amongst Gods people and we believe there is no discrimination and we want to tell young people in Kenya that there is hope for them,” Madhu said.He added, “We believe in this conference that youths will understand the sense of humanity and need for peace keeping to fulfil our dreams.”
Madhu has noted that Kenya plays a critical role not only in the region but also across Africa and the world.
“I think Kenya represents the whole African continent. Kenya plays a very vital role in the sustainable development of whole African continent and take the gospel of Peace to all the five continents,” he added.
The conference will also highlight the contributions of students trained in international institutions, including American universities and United Nations innovation programs, many of whom are already working to advance peace initiatives worldwide.
He said, ‘’We have a bunch of students, already they have passed out. we are the global citizens, boundaries created by human beings.’’
Reacting on the Nepal crisis, Prof. Madhu told the scribes that national boundaries are human-made divisions that should not hinder unity and coexistence.
“If you see Nepal and the boundaries of India which was containing Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, all was India only. One India, but then it was divided, divided, divided, divided in the course of time,” Madhu reacted.
He added, “So, we want to unite once again. God has never discriminated for creating human beings. The boundaries are man-made. Politically, political divided boundaries are there. So we would like to unite once again all of them.”
Supporting the sentiments, Prof. Cletus Bassey said that the forum will stress the role of institutions particularly governments in supporting the aspirations of citizens, especially the youth.
Bassey Called on young people to take part saying that the gathering will provide an opportunity for them to be inspired and energized by a message of peace, faith, and hope.
“There shouldn’t be injustice here. We are bringing the gospel of peace and also to tell the young people in Kenya that there is work and hope for them because there is work, God raises institutions, and government is one of those institutions, to make sure that those in dreams of our forebears come to pass,” Bassey affirmed.
The Peace Conference is expected to draw wide participation from across Kenya and beyond, serving as a reminder of the shared responsibility to uphold peace, justice, and unity in an increasingly divided world.
