Team Kenya is set to take part in the inaugural African Schools Games, scheduled to take place from
July 26 to August 5, 2025 in the cities of Constantine, Sétif, Skikda and Annaba in Algeria.
The continental competition, which brings together top school-aged athletes from across Africa, marks a
major milestone in youth sports development and serves as a critical pathway toward the Dakar 2026
Youth Olympic Games, the first Olympic event to be held on African soil.
The games will feature over 3,000 young athletes aged 14-17 from 44 countries, competing in 25 sports
disciplines. The event aims to showcase and nurture young African sporting talent on a continental stage
and is organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).
Kenya will be represented by a delegation competing in seven disciplines Athletics,Tennis,Beach
Volleyball,Cycling,Judo,Wrestling,Boxing with each discipline fielding two athletes male and female
with Mrs.Paurvi Rawal as the Chef de mission.
This participation aligns with the National Olympic Committee of Kenya’s long-term strategy to invest
in youth talent and strengthen the pipeline of elite athletes who will represent Kenya at future Olympic
events.
The African Schools Games provide a unique platform for young athletes to gain international
exposure, experience high-level competition, and develop.

With the African Youth Games (December 2025, Luanda, Angola) and Dakar 2026 fast approaching, Kenya views the African Schools Games as a pivotal stepping stone in the journey toward Olympic
excellence.
The athletes selected to participate in Algeria will not only carry the hopes of their schools
but also the aspirations of a nation that continues to shine on the global sports stage.
Speaking of the event,(IOC) Member and Chair of the IOC Coordination Commission for the 4th
Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026 Humphrey Kayange put emphasis on the role the
school games will play.
“The African Schools Games are a critical stepping stone on the road to Dakar 2026. They offer a
unique opportunity to identify, nurture, and inspire the next generation of African Olympians.
” As the first Olympic event to be hosted on African soil, the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar will be a
celebration of the continent’s talent, energy, and potential and it starts right here, with these school
