Kenyan cab driver in Dubai is viciously attacked by his passenger

A Kenyan cab driver working in Dubai is recovering after a violent assault by a passenger. The driver, Brian Kiplimo, had been in Dubai for two months before the attack.

He was assaulted while on duty at around 5:00am, after a passenger became aggressive during a ride and physically attacked him from the back seat.

The family reported that the incident began when Kiplimo rejected what they described as the passenger’s inappropriate physical advance. Upon the refusal, the passenger moved from the back seat and grabbed Kiplimo by the neck.

In desperate attempt to save himself, Kiplimo forced his way out of the cab while it was still moving. He managed to escape but sustained injuries that required hospitalization.

Kiplimo was rushed to hospital in Dubai where he received treatment for injuries related to the choking. His family says that they learned of the attack through communication with friends and colleagues who had seen him after the incident.

This family further claims that Kiplimo’s employer has been holding his documents, including his passport, making it difficult for him to return to Kenya or move independently as the situation develops. They say they have attempted to engage the cab company for help but have not received meaningful support.

Additionally, the family says they have also reported the matter to Dubai authorities, but no substantial updates on legal action have been made public. They say they remain unsure whether the passenger involved has been traced or whether any charges have been filed.

This incident adds to growing list of cases involving Kenyan workers abroad facing violence, withheld documents, or lack of legal protection. For now the family waits for updates while Kenyans continue pushing for action to ensure Kiplimo receives justice and that similar incidents are prevented in future.
